Caden's 12th Birthday Party

So... I thought that I would try to study and get my homework done while these little boys battled it out with Nerf guns, but that was not the case. They had a blast playing capture the flag and shooting each other. Kailyn and Jane entertained each other by watching bad movies, eating popcorn, and hiding in my room.
Can you believe Caden got more Nerf things.... I really didn't think anything else existed.
The boys begrudgingly sang Happy Birthday... I think they must be getting too cool for that.  Kailyn blessed us by singing it in spanish.

January 2010

I can't believe it is already 2010. Christmas rushed by, Kailyn has been driving for a month now and Caden is 12. Wow! We will be having a major nerf gun battle tomorrow for Caden's birthday. He is really looking forward to that.

I am starting to scrapbook more frequently and just entered a page into a contest on Page Maps (at the top of this page). This is from Kailyn's 13th Birthday.

I will post our pictures from the past few weeks to get up to speed and again will attempt to keep more up to date on this.

Kailyn and Caden driving to school together for the first time ever. I am such a lucky Mom.... no more driving those kids to school in the mornings.

There they Go!!!!!

I will post Pictures from Caden's birthday tomorrow.

Beginning our Blog

This is something I have wanted to do for some time, but never really knew how to get started. So here I am, making my first attempt at creating a blog for our family. Living so far away from a lot of our family, I am hoping this will help keep people up to date with the ever so quickly changing lives of both Kailyn and Caden.

Can anyone believe Kailyn is old enough to drive? Scary... she should be going in the very near future to take her test. With soccer encompassing our lives lately, we haven't had the time to get to DMV before it is closed. Soccer officially ended this past Tuesday with the Crusaders losing 0-1, in the Semi-Finals for the State Championship. Kailyn says it was "bitter sweet". She was sad it was over but thankful she could finally have the time to catch back up with school. Missing school and having practice every night of the week takes its toll after 2 1/2 months. She is totally into art and is very talented at it. I will attempt to take some pictures of her artwork and post it on here for those who have not seen how truly talented she is.

Caden is adjusting to private school... not so easy when all your friends go to the public school. He is being challenged academically which is good for him. We are having issues with fear again with him, but at least he is finally sleeping through the night (8 nights and counting although still in my room). Started with a counselor this week that was recommended by Caden's physician and I really liked my first impression of him. This counselor focuses on fear and anxiety in children. I hope this really helps him. I hate seeing him be this way. He has some famous You-Tube vidoes.. will get the links so you can see him in his amazing Nerf Gun Battles.

I am working, working, and working.... and will be adding to that in January when I go back to school again. I took this semester off to have some breathing room but will get back at it again in January. Working on earning a dual degree MBA/MSL (Masters of Science in Leadership). I really enjoy the leadership classes but the business side of things is not so fun. Statistics, accounting and finance is not my idea of fun. Love scrapbooking and wish I had time to do it more often. Still need to work on organizing a zillion years of pictures.

Nicole is looking at taking a new job. Will probably apply on Monday. She currently is an ER nurse, but would like to also get in the leadership field. She was approached by one of the Directors and has been asked to look at becoming the manager of the Oncology unit (it is one of our smaller units so they call it a "coordinator" instead of Manager). This would be a completely new field of nursing for her which would add a new challenge for her, but she is due for a challenge. ER nursing to Oncology nursing, totally opposite ends of the spectrum. She too is in school getting her MSN with an emphasis on leadership. She recently has gotten into road biking (which she has wanted to do forever) when she got a really cool birthday present from some awesome family members -- yep, a road bike. The weather is cooling off so she may need to find new activities.

I will attempt to keep this updated with the most recent happenings and pics of the kids!
